MP Calls For Independent Evaluation Of 2021 Responsible Cannabis-Use Reform

In a statement on social media, Labour MP Mariah Meli called for an ‘independent, evidence-based evaluation’ of the 2021 responsible cannabis-use reform.
‘The concerns raised by several residents about the impact of cannabis reform on our communities deserve to be heard and addressed’, wrote Meli. ‘Issues such as scents and premises located close to homes and families need to be examined in a balanced manner.’
‘I believe the time has come for an independent, evidence-based evaluation of the 2021 responsible cannabis-use reform and its impact on health, young people, safety, and residents.’
‘Where the evidence reveals shortcomings, the law should be revised to better protect our children, families, and communities.’
