MOU Sign For New Community Parking And Festa Storage Facilities In Mqabba

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the Lands Authority and the Mqabba Local Council for the transfer of a 2,000-square-metre site in Triq Ġorġ Martin, Mqabba, for community and cultural use.

The site will primarily be developed into a public car park to address a long-standing need identified by residents and formally raised by the local council.

Parts of the site will also be allocated to the Soċjetà Mużikali Madonna tal-Ġilju and the Soċjetà Mużikali Santa Marija Banda Re Ġorġ V for the construction of storage facilities for festa decorations used during the village’s popular feasts.

Culture, Lands and Local Government Minister Owen Bonnici said the project will strengthen community life and improve residents’ quality of life through additional parking and support for local cultural traditions.

Mqabba Mayor Grace Marie Zerafa described the agreement as a historic step for the locality and its residents.
