More Than 600 Tonnes Of Waste Rocks Collected From White Rocks Area

An extensive cleanup operation has begun at White Rocks, led by the Ministry for the Environment, Energy and Public Cleanliness.
The initiative, carried out through a joint effort between Project Green and Clean Malta, aims to remove years of accumulated waste, including large amounts of construction debris.
In just three days, close to 600 tonnes of waste were cleared from the site.
During a visit, Minister Miriam Dalli and Parliamentary Secretary Glenn Bedingfield explained how previously buried squares and open spaces were uncovered after being hidden under waste and overgrown vegetation.
Minister Dalli said the cleanup marks the first step toward transforming White Rocks into a national park shaped by public consultation.
Parts of the area are expected to become accessible in the near future, allowing the public to reconnect with the site.
Parliamentary Secretary Bedingfield described the project as a new chapter for Malta, turning the country’s largest stretch of land into a green lung for families.
Following the cleanup, Project Green will conduct detailed studies on the site’s topography, structures, flora and fauna to guide the next phase of development.
