More than 12,600 children have started attending SkolaSajf 2026 across Malta and Gozo, with the summer programme being offered through 54 centres and supported by 2,761 educators.

The initiative represents an investment of €7.4 million and aims to provide children with a safe, stimulating and educational environment during the summer holidays.

Minister for Education and Sport Byron Camilleri visited the SkolaSajf Centre at San Ġwakkin in Marsaskala, where he met children, educators and staff involved in delivering the programme. He also observed some of the activities being organised as part of this year’s edition.

SkolaSajf 2026 includes 45 mainstream centres in Malta, five centres in Gozo and four Resource Centres. Camilleri said the programme remains an important service that supports both children and families, particularly working parents, throughout the summer months.

“Through SkolaSajf, we continue to invest in our children by offering them a less formal, safe and stimulating environment where they can learn, explore and develop their skills even during the summer holidays. At the same time, this service remains an important support for students and thousands of families,” the Minister said.

Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation for Educational Services (FES) Michael Bondin said that almost 13,000 students have once again chosen to take part in SkolaSajf. He explained that this year’s theme, “Reach for the Stars”, encourages children to explore their potential and pursue their ambitions through a range of activities and collaborations.

The programme focuses on non-formal learning experiences that promote creativity, curiosity, confidence and teamwork. It is organised by the Foundation for Educational Services together with its partners.

The Minister thanked FES, educators and all staff involved for their dedication in ensuring that SkolaSajf continues to provide a positive experience for thousands of children.

SkolaSajf 2026 will continue until 11 September, with a break between 10 and 14 August.

The main service operates from Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 12:30pm, while selected centres also provide extended hours to further support working parents.
