More Than 100 Infrastructural Projects At Various Implementation Stages

Infrastructure Malta is currently managing more than 100 infrastructure projects at different stages of development, ranging from planning and design to works that are under way or nearing completion.

The update was provided during a visit by Minister for Infrastructure, Planning and Employment Jonathan Attard and Permanent Secretary Ronald Mizzi to the entity's offices, where they were welcomed by Chief Executive Officer Steve Ellul and Chief Operations Officer Perit Janice Borg.

According to Infrastructure Malta, the projects cover a broad range of sectors, including road upgrades, connectivity improvements, major infrastructure works, public spaces, maritime infrastructure and other initiatives intended to meet the country's evolving needs.

Minister Attard said the Government remains committed to investing in human resources to strengthen the services provided to the public.

He described Infrastructure Malta as playing a central role in delivering the Government's infrastructure programme, which aims to improve quality of life while addressing both present and future requirements.

The discussions also highlighted the scale and complexity of the entity's workload, with officials stressing the importance of strong coordination between technical, operational and administrative teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, sustainably and on schedule.

Infrastructure Malta is also continuing to strengthen its ability to manage its growing project portfolio through improved strategic planning, stronger internal coordination, enhanced progress monitoring and better project governance.

These measures are intended to streamline the process from identifying infrastructure needs to delivering completed projects for local communities.

Minister Attard welcomed these efforts and emphasised the importance of long-term planning, making the best use of available resources and reducing delays and disruption for the public.

Chief Executive Officer Steve Ellul thanked employees for their dedication and professionalism, reaffirming Infrastructure Malta's commitment to strategic planning, good governance and operational excellence.

During the visit, the Minister and Permanent Secretary also met staff from several departments, including procurement, roadworks, maritime, major projects, finance, communications, legal services, information technology and customer relations.
