Momentum Candidate Files Police Report After Campaign Banners Stolen in Marsaskala
Local

Campaign banners belonging to Momentum General Secretary and electoral candidate Mark Philip Camilleri Gambin have been stolen from Marsaskala in what is being described as a targeted act of political censorship.

The theft took place in the Third Electoral District, one of the two districts Camilleri Gambin is contesting in the upcoming general election. Notably, campaign banners belonging to other political parties displayed in the exact same area were left completely untouched, raising concerns that the removal specifically targeted the Momentum candidate.

The incident comes as Camilleri Gambin has become increasingly outspoken on the controversial Marsaskala promenade project, repeatedly calling on authorities to provide greater transparency and clearer information to residents regarding the development.

Momentum suggested that the theft may reflect growing discomfort among certain individuals over the candidate’s persistent demands for accountability and openness surrounding the project.

A formal police report is being filed by Camilleri Gambin this morning, with authorities expected to investigate the targeted removal of the campaign materials.

Taking to social media on Saturday evening, Camilleri Gambin condemned what he described as a blatant attempt to silence legitimate questions, while insisting that the incident has only reinforced his determination to continue pressing for answers.

“While it is certainly frustrating to deal with these petty tactics, this incident will absolutely not slow us down,” Camilleri Gambin said.

“If someone believes that removing a few banners will silence our questions about the Marsaskala promenade project, they are very much mistaken. We will keep fighting for good governance, a beautiful island, and a transparent process for all residents.”

Momentum has urged anyone with information related to the theft to come forward and contact the local authorities as investigations get underway.
