Momentum Calls on Maltese Leaders to Clarify Position Following Reports of Maduro’s Capture

Twenty-four hours after reports emerged that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife were captured, Partit Momentum have stated that Malta’s political leadership has remained silent. No official statements, positions, or clarifications have been issued.

Momentum have released a statement calling for answers, questioning where the Maltese government stands on an event with significant international and legal implications, and equally, where the Nationalist Party stands.

The party has specifically urged Prime Minister Robert Abela, Foreign Minister Ian Borg, and PN leader Alex Borg to address the situation, warning that continued silence undermines transparency and democratic accountability.

“In an era of instant diplomacy and immediate geopolitical signalling, Malta’s quiet on this matter is striking,” Momentum said, emphasising the public’s right to know the official stance of both government and opposition on developments with far-reaching consequences.
