Ministers Say Police Report Filed After Tourists Filmed Jumping Outlet Counter To Get Food

Minister for Home Affairs Glenn Bedingfield and Minister for Tourism Jo Etienne Abela have both condemned and reported that a police report has been filed after footage showed a group of tourists limbing over a local KFC counter and helping themselves to food.
The footage spread virally around social media as the tourists, who were hailing from a festival held in Malta, entered the St Julian’s outlet and took the food from the kitchen themselves.
‘Unacceptable behaviour’, said Minister Bedingfield. ‘These types of activities need to go through a more rigorous process before a permit is issued. This should be done in the public interest.’
Minister Jo Etienne Abela also revealed that he is in contact with Bedingfield, saying that the necessary steps are being taken.
‘We’re working so that whoever breaks the law takes up responsibility and pays for his actions. The authorities will investigate any report they receive.’
He said that anyone who is found guilty will be subject to the measures introduced this summer, including fines and deportation.
