Minister Owen Bonnici Lays Flowers At Independence Monument

Standing in for Prime Minister Robert Abela, Minister for Accommodation and Lands Owen Bonnici laid flowers at the Independence Monument outside Valletta as part of the ceremony marking the 62nd anniversary Malta’s Independence.

‘We salute an Independent Malta as one people’, wrote Bonnici on social media. ‘United, we always achieved and together we will continue to do so.’

Marking the 62nd anniversary since Malta received its independence from the UK in 1964, Bonnici attended the ceremony alongside President Myriam Spiteri Debono and Nationalist Party leader Alex Borg.

The ceremony included a pontifical mass held by Archbishop Charles Scicluna at Valletta’s St John’s Co-Cathedral, along with a parade by the Armed Forces of Malta.
