Minister Miriam Dalli Claps Back At Gozo Bishop Childcare Remarks

In a post to her Facebook, Minister for the Environment, Energy and Public Cleanliness, Miriam Dalli clapped back at Gozo Bishop for his comments regarding childcare.
Speaking during his homily, Bishop Teuma expressed concern that if a baby becomes an ‘object’ because parents have too much to do, then it’s easy for them to place them in childcare.
He said that when a baby is no longer seen as a human being and money takes precedent, then the baby becomes an object less important than a bedroom they seek to renovate, ending up in childcare.
Dalli responded by stating that she is a mother of 2 boys who both attended childcare.
“You can condemn me as much as you want, and I assure you my children were never and are not “objects” as he described children.”
She enforced that this was not merely an opinion on childcare, but rather a way of condemning working parents.
The bishop’s remarks have caused a number of officials and institutions to respond, many disagreeing with his precedent.
