Minister Jo Etienne Abela Reveals 1,467 Seniors On Waiting List For Residential Care Homes

In a parliamentary session, MP Ivan Bartolo asked Minister for Health and Active Ageing, Jo Etienne Abela, for an update on the number of elderly people currently on the waiting list for entry into residential care homes.
The Minister responded that, at present, there are 1,467 seniors awaiting placement in residential facilities. Over the past three months, a further 564 new applications have been submitted.
Minister Abela added that every effort is being made to secure available beds in the private market to ensure timely care for those in need.
