Minister For Foreign Affairs Chris Fearne Meets With Palestinian Ambassador Fadi Hanania

Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Chris Fearne has reaffirmed Malta’s continued support for the Palestinian people and the implementation of a two-state solution in line with international resolutions.

During a meeting with Palestinian Ambassador Fadi Hanania, Fearne also confirmed that Malta had joined an international leaders’ statement urging the Israeli government to immediately retract plans for the E1 settlement project and halt the expansion of settlements.

The minister said Malta remains opposed to what it described as illegal Israeli settlements and supports restrictions on settlement trade.

He also pledged continued assistance to Palestine’s health sector and humanitarian organisations, while exploring further educational opportunities for Palestinian youth.

Ambassador Hanania briefed Fearne on the latest developments in Palestine, warning of escalating violence, land seizures and settlement expansion.

He also stressed the need for sustained humanitarian aid to Gaza, the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, the withdrawal of Israeli forces and the launch of recovery and reconstruction efforts.
