MINISTER CONDEMNS TA’ GIORNI SHOOTING OF TWO POLICE OFFICERS AT ARMS COLLECTOR SEMINAR

Home Affairs and Security Minister Glenn Bedingfield has condemned the serious incident in Ta’ Giorni that left two police officers injured while carrying out their duties.
The officers, identified as Omar Sharif and Johann Vella, were taken to hospital following the shooting, with one reportedly in critical condition and fighting for his life.
Speaking at a seminar organised by the Maltese Association of Arms Collectors (AMACS), Minister Bedingfield said the incident should serve as a reminder that “safety and respect towards the law must remain an absolute priority in our country.”
He added: “The law must be respected. And when we talk about firearms, we are talking about a responsibility that can be the difference between life and death.”
The Minister also stressed: “We want a country where the law reigns, where life is respected and where no one thinks they have the right to take the law into their own hands.”
