Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment, Byron Camilleri has used his social media platforms to deliver a firm message on road safety, captioning his latest post, “Zero tolerance. 100% responsibility.”
The video comes as the Maltese government prepares to roll out sweeping road safety reforms aimed at curbing drink and drug driving.
Camilleri revealed that the Malta Police Force has already carried out over 2,000 roadside checks in 2025.
In the video, Minister Camilleri spoke about the recent spate of accidents on Maltese roads, stressing that from now on, anyone who causes a death while driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol will face a prison term, not a suspended sentence.
