Minimum Wage Set To Increase In Upcoming Budget

In an exclusive with MaltaDaily, Prime Minister Robert Abela was asked if minimum wage is set to increase in the upcoming budget.
“We made a clear promise that we will increase minimum pay each year until the end of legislation,” responded Abela, highlighting that minimum wage went from being consistently unchanged to undergoing yearly increase.
“Today, which are those sectors still on minimum wage?” question Abela, referring both to government and private jobs.
He emphasised that this is not to say that there are people who still don’t need financial improvement, but rather that there is “a pocket in our society who this budget will be considering a lot.”
Abela reassured that they will continue to invest in schemes like subsidiaries in light and water bills.
“What country around Europe and around the world has done what we did?” posed the Prime Minister, “It’s going to be a budget that I think will surprise a lot of people.”
