At San Ġakbu College, Mikiel Anton Vassalli Secondary School in Tal-Ħandaq, Ħal Qormi, students have successfully completed a massive collection of bottles and containers for the BCRS recycling scheme.

This initiative has set a new national record in the Maltese Islands for the highest number of bottles gathered for a charitable cause. The collected items are being donated to Second Chance Horse Rescue Malta, an NGO dedicated to caring for abandoned and rescued animals.

The project, which took place under the supervision of a juror from The Malta Records, saw students and staff come together in a concerted effort to combine environmental responsibility with community service. In total, the school collected 2,044 bottles, marking a remarkable achievement and demonstrating the students’ dedication to making a positive impact.

The success of this initiative reflects both the creativity and commitment of Mikiel Anton Vassalli Secondary School in Tal-Ħandaq. Beyond setting a record, the project has provided students with the opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause while fostering a sense of pride and unity within the school community.
