The comprehensive maintenance and renovation project for the hall at Mikiel Anton Vassalli College has been completed, with an investment of over €300,000. The upgrade has improved both the overall functionality and quality of the facility.

The work was carried out by the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation through the Directorate for Logistics and Infrastructure as part of the EDU Infrastructure programmes. The hall is also used by students of the School of Visual and Performing Arts, which is located within the same complex.

Minister Clifton Grima commented, “Through this investment we have improved not only the visual appearance but also the functionality of the hall, with professional advice enhancing acoustics and lighting, making the space suitable for the educational needs of Visual and Performing Arts and Music. This reflects our commitment to every educational sector, ensuring that students and educators have the best possible environment for learning.”

The investment has transformed the hall, creating a modern and fully equipped space suitable for general meetings, ceremonies and a variety of educational and cultural activities for students, educators and the school community.

As part of the project, a new electrical system was installed, including modern distribution panels, updated circuit protection and a dedicated supply for stage lighting and the audio system.

An energy-efficient LED lighting system provides stronger, evenly distributed illumination while reducing energy use and long-term operational costs.

The stage has received particular attention, with updated lighting integrated with a professional sound mixer. Acoustic treatment has been added to walls and ceilings, including sound-absorbing panels and specialised equipment, creating a more comfortable environment for large gatherings, performances and events.

New parquet flooring has been installed on the stage, and the main hall floor has been completely replaced with high-quality material designed for intensive daily use.

This project reflects the Ministry’s continued commitment to high-quality educational infrastructure. By modernising facilities, schools are equipped with functional, technically advanced spaces that support both academic and extracurricular development while enhancing teaching, learning and student wellbeing.
