Malta Federation of Organisations Persons with Disability has strengthened its role as a key voice for disability organisations, promoting dialogue around the principle “Nothing About Us Without Us”.

The federation recently conducted a research initiative involving 16 focus groups with its member organisations. The sessions served to assess current practices, identify areas for improvement, and support collaborative planning for the future.

The project was funded through the Voluntary Organisations Projects Scheme (VOPS), administered by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector, with an investment of nearly €10,000.

The findings were presented in the presence of Julia Farrugia and MCVS CEO Mauro Pace Parascandolo.

Farrugia said the initiative helps “give a stronger voice to persons with disability,” while contributing to more inclusive policies and services. Pace Parascandolo highlighted the importance of research in guiding the voluntary sector.

The initiative aims to improve services, strengthen rights, and enhance quality of life for persons with disability and their families, while ensuring equal access to opportunities.
