Merriam-Webster Glow-Up: Gen-Z Slang Among 1,400 Words Added To American Dictionary

Merriam-Webster has revealed the 1,400 latest additions to their dictionary, including several terms popularised by Gen-Z internet users.
The selected words were chosen to reflect the language and terms that are commonly used and understood in everyday life. As a result, phrases like ‘glow-up’ to describe a person who levels up their clothing, and ‘rickroll’ referring to the common Rick Astley meme are now official members of the Merriam-Webster dictionary.
Beyond Gen-Z slang, the dictionary now features more culinary terms, such as ‘superfood’ and ‘cake pop’, as well as niche phrases like ‘Mandela Effect’ and ‘California Sober’ to refer to someone who uses alcohol and marijuana but avoids harder drugs.
