Lorella Castillo has launched a new project, releasing a photograph blending Addams family with local Catholic tradition.

A little altar boy stands in front of a door, holding a charity box with the words ‘Għinni nsir qassis’ (‘help me become a priest’).

On top of his head stands Hand, from the Addams family, the mysterious detached hand with a mind of its own.

‘Thing, freshly dispatched from the Addams Family, has launched an investigation into a boy who has been fundraising to become a priest for so long that even our fathers remember him from their childhood.’

‘After decades of “Għinni nsir qassis,” the question on everyone’s lips is: HOW HAS THIS BOY STILL NOT BECOME A PRIEST?! A mystery that has baffled Malta for generations.’

Even the pigeon lost its faith, Lorella wrote.

The altar boy statue is an iconic landmark on Merchants Street in Valletta. Standing at around 1.5 metres tall, it is draped in traditional attire of the altar boy.
