MEP Writes To EU Commission For Storm Harry Aid Funds

MEP Alex Agius Saliba took to social media to announce that he has written to the European Commission for funds to assist Malta after the damages it sustained after Storm Harry.

‘As other Member States were aided, Malta should receive a helping hand as well’, said the PL MEP.

‘As Maltese citizens, local authorities, and emergency services continue their efforts to secure affected areas, clear debris, and carry out damage assessments, the scale of destruction is becoming increasingly evident’, he wrote to the Commission.

‘In light of the above, I would like to appeal to you for European solidarity. I respectfully call on the European Commission to act without delay on how the European Union can assist the Maltese authorities and the affected communities during this critical recovery phase, including through technical guidance, flexibility, and the potential mobilisation of available support instruments.’

‘Moments such as these are a test of our shared European commitment to stand together in times of crisis.’
