Melita And Epic Announce Plans To Combine Operations

Malta’s telecommunications providers Melita and Epic have announced an agreement to combine their operations in a move aimed at strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure and connectivity.

The proposed transaction would bring together the companies’ complementary fixed and mobile networks, creating a larger operator capable of accelerating investment in next-generation infrastructure, faster gigabit speeds and more resilient services.

According to the companies, the combination would support improved network quality, coverage and customer choice, while strengthening connectivity for households, businesses and the public sector.

Melita CEO Harald Roesch said the agreement would help deliver the sustained investment Malta’s digital infrastructure requires, while Epic CEO Pierre-Etienne Cizeron described the move as an important milestone for the country’s digital future.

Under the agreement, Melita will acquire 100% of Epic’s shares from Monaco Telecom. The transaction remains subject to merger control and other regulatory approvals.

Until these are secured, both companies will continue operating independently, with no expected impact on employees or customer services.
