‘MCC Museum’ App Unveiled: A New Digital Gateway To The Mediterranean Conference Centre

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Ian Borg, attended the official launch of the new ‘MCC Museum’ application a virtual museum experience dedicated to the Mediterranean Conference Centre (MCC). The event was held within the historic building itself.

The application serves as an informative digital guide to all points of interest inside the MCC. Harnessing innovative technology, including artificial intelligence, users can access audio guides and visual content in multiple languages from various locations within the Centre. Additional features include interactive chatbots representing different characters, a virtual map for easy navigation, and a children’s mode led by a character named Oranġjo.

Speaking at the launch, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted how technology is making history accessible to all not only to Maltese and Gozitan citizens, but also to the many tourists who visit Malta.
“I am pleased to see initiatives of this kind, because this place has a lot of potential. First and foremost, we must ensure that the Mediterranean Conference Centre continues to fulfil its various roles. It must remain a hub for conferences of the highest calibre, offering visitors a setting where they can appreciate the charm of the Capital City, the Port and the historic architecture. It should continue to serve as a cultural venue that welcomes leading artists and talents, while hosting as many cultural events as possible. It must also remain a key tourist attraction, allowing anyone visiting Valletta to experience this majestic building. Above all, this building should help Maltese and Gozitans, especially the younger generation, to understand and appreciate the richness of our history,” said Dr Borg.

Nigel Vella, Chief Executive Officer of the Mediterranean Conference Centre, described the app as a bridge between the past, the present and the future.
“Through it, our visitors will not only admire the architecture, the views, and our beautiful halls, but most importantly, they will learn. They will learn about the people who walked these corridors, the significance of the place, and the role it has played over more than 450 years. It is remarkable that within a building like this, one can experience the past through modern technology. It is equally impressive to hear, in different languages, about the hard work that brought us to where we are today,” said Mr Vella.
He further noted that the app demonstrates the importance of integrating technology across all sectors to maximise potential. He also invited the public to attend an open day at the Mediterranean Conference Centre this Sunday between 10am and 5pm.
During the launch, Dylan Seychell, representing Sey Travel — the developer of the application delivered a presentation showcasing the app’s full range of features and functionalities.
