The Department of Cardiology at Mater Dei Hospital has been officially recognised as a specialised Centre of Quality Care for heart failure.

The Heart Failure Clinic and the Cardiology Department at Mater Dei Hospital were honoured with ICARE-HF accreditation, a recognition granted by the Heart Failure Association (HFA) as a specialised Centre of Care Quality for heart failure management.

Established in 2008, the Heart Failure Clinic at Mater Dei focuses primarily on patient education and ensuring adherence to therapy through direct medical support in line with clinical guidelines, as well as close monitoring of patients. The clinic plays a vital role in reducing hospital admissions by identifying early signs of decompensation and allowing timely interventions.

Minister for Health and Active Ageing, Dr Jo Etienne Abela, highlighted the clinic’s commitment to improving patient care, noting the recent launch of the Diuretic Lounge, designed to provide patients with tailored therapy.
