The Labour Party is set to take over Victor Tedesco Stadium today for what is being billed as the party’s biggest mass meeting of this electoral campaign yet.

The event marks the penultimate rally before voters are expected to head to the polls on Saturday, 30 May, with the final mass meeting scheduled for Thursday ahead of Friday’s silent day. Attention will then shift to Sunday, 31 May, when the much-anticipated election result is expected.

Today’s gathering has been heavily promoted by Labour in recent days, with shuttle services and park-and-ride systems organised to accommodate the thousands anticipated to attend. The party is aiming to create a major show of force in the final stretch of the campaign as momentum builds ahead of election day.

Passers-by around the stadium in recent days have also witnessed the scale of the preparations underway, with a massive set-up taking shape inside and around the venue. Alterations were even made to parts of the stadium’s ground structure in order to accommodate today’s meeting and the expected large crowds.

Beyond the traditional political speeches and addresses, the event is also being promoted as a large-scale entertainment spectacle. A number of local artists and DJs are set to perform throughout the evening, while international acts La Bouche, Fragma and Christina Novelli are also expected to take the stage.
