A new mass transport project would begin within the first 100 days of a Nationalist Government, said PN Leader Alex Borg, who was closing the Partit Nazzjonalista National Convention themed Malta ‘l Quddiem.

Addressing delegates at the Grand Hotel Excelsior, Borg said the project would be a national initiative aimed at modernising transport and improving quality of life.

He stated that the service would be delivered within five years. Referring to traffic congestion, he said it is estimated to cost the country €900 million annually and argued that investment in modern transport is necessary to address future challenges.

The two day Convention brought together participants from Malta and Gozo, including social partners, constituted bodies, non governmental organisations and experts.

Six workshops were held, five in Malta and one in Gozo at the Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz, focusing on themes such as prosperity, strong communities, education, governance and Gozo’s role in the national vision. Rapporteurs presented conclusions during a plenary session, followed by a discussion on the economy led by an expert panel.
