Mass Transport Plans In Progress, Says Prime Minister

Speaking during an interview with presenter Ronald Vassallo, Prime Minister ROBERT ABELA said that the work on mass transport is well underway, with an international brand having already been engaged.

Abela said that this is a topic about which the two political parties should not try to score political points but instead come together to find the best way forward.

Given the massive infrastructural work such a project would require, not to mention the length of time, the Prime Minister said that there is no room for partisan back-and-forth.

In terms of progress, the PM said that one of the best international brands has been engaged and that work is well underway to iron out the details.

Starting February 2017, a two stage assessment process for the Malta Metro was taken, leading to the publication of a study in October of 2021 that assesses feasibility.

According to the Malta Metro official website, the whole network bay be in operation in between 15 and 20 years from date of commencement.
