Promenade Walls And Road Adjustments To Address Marsaskala Flooding

Road levels in Marsaskala are to be reassessed and potentially adjusted to avoid flooding during high tides, says Chris Bonnet, Minister for Transport, Infrastructure, and Public Works.
This came after a parliamentary question asked by MP Bernice Bonello, who inquired what has taken place for shops on the Marsaskala front to protect them from damage in case of more extreme weather.
Bonnet explained that the principle problem at the Marsaskala front is not the storm, but rather the "high tides."
He explained that one must also understand the limiting factors in place.
The buildings level is fixed, and the levels of the pavement cannot be higher than them. Additionally, the level of the promenade also cannot be changed much.
Walls are once again being build on the promenade to lessen the strength of waves, and a planter is being implemented on the edge of the promenade to catch any water that still makes it way up.
