Marsalforn to Host ‘Alive: Our Local Fish and Sea’ Festival on 16 November 2025

Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights, Anton Refalo, together with the Minister for Gozo and Planning, Clint Camilleri, have announced that on Sunday, 16 November 2025, the event “Alive: Our Local Fish and Sea” will take place in Marsalforn from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. This family-friendly event celebrates marine life, local fishing, and the culture surrounding the sea.

The event is being organised by the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights, in collaboration with the Ministry for Gozo and Planning, to provide a day of entertainment, learning, and sea-related experiences for both Gozitan and Maltese families. The event aims to foster a greater appreciation of the sea and sustainable fishing, while highlighting the vital role the sea plays in our identity as a nation. The programme combines culture, education, and entertainment to create a unique experience that blends learning with fun.
Minister Anton Refalo stated,"This event is not only a celebration for the whole family but also a clear message about the importance of appreciating and protecting our natural resources. The sea and local fisheries hold immense value for our culture and economy, and through Alive, we aim to strengthen respect for these sectors. I thank all the entities and the community who are making this event possible."
Minister Clint Camilleri added,"The Ministry remains committed to supporting initiatives like this, which not only reinforce the sense of community here on the island but also promote appreciation for everything that makes Gozo unique. Through close collaboration with the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights, we are creating an experience that combines fun with learning, raising awareness of sustainable fishing and the importance of caring for our local seas. Moreover, these activities continue to attract more visitors to Gozo throughout the year."
