Map Released Which Shows 426 Hedgehog Rescues This Year

Wildlife Rescue Team Malta has published an interactive map showing 426 individual hedgehog rescue locations across the Maltese islands this year so far.
The map plots each rescue site, offering a visual overview of where wildlife intervention has been most active.
Clusters of rescues appear around urban and suburban zones, indicating that hedgehogs often come into distress near human habitation.
Rural and coastal areas also feature, reflecting the species’ wide range and the challenges of habitat fragmentation.
By making this data public, Nature Trust Malta aims to raise awareness about the pressures faced by hedgehogs and the importance of swift rescue responses.
The map can also help guide future conservation efforts, highlighting hotspots where protective measures, public education, or habitat support could be intensified.
In a post on their FaceBook, Wildlife Rescue Team Malta shared the map and asked the public to continue helping in hedgehog rescue efforts.
