Man Held At Gun Point By Police After Reported Car Chase In Mġarr

A man was held at gun point by Malta Police Force officers after a reported car chase in Mġarr.

Malta Daily has confirmed with police that, last night, whilst police were conducting patrols in Imġarr, they saw a vehicle driving dangerously.

The driver was ordered to stop, but, despite the beacon lights being switched on, he ignored police orders.

After driving for a few minutes, the car was stopped and the driver was ordered to exit the vehicle with his hands where they could be seen. After the situation was clear, the weapons were holstered and he was arrested.

The driver was found to have been driving whilst intoxicated and will be charged in court.

Footage sent to this newsroom show a police car and officers behind the door, wielding their weapons, and demanding the man approach them slowly whilst following further orders.
