Man At Risk Of Dying After Żejtun Scrapyard Injury: No Explosion Reported

A 47 year old Argentinian man suffered serious injuries after an incident that took place at around 1030hrs in a scrap yard in Triq tal-Barrani, Iż-Żejtun.
Preliminary investigations showed that while the man was cutting iron with gas equipment, some malfunction in the same apparatus led to the man suffering burns.
A medical team, as well as Civil Protection, were called on site to help. The man was transported to Mater Dei Hospital where he was certified to have suffered serious injuries.
Reports circulated that an explosion was heard from the same area. However, these reports were confirmed as false by officials on site as they continued their investigations.
An inquiry has been opened as investigations continue.
