Man Arrested At Airport For Importing 19 Kilos Of Khat Drug

A 51 year old English man was arrested at Malta International Airport in connection to the importation of over 19 kilos of drugs suspected to be khat, with a value of around €8,000.
The man was stopped by Customs officials upon arriving from Amsterdam. A search in his luggage found around 100 packets worth of drugs.
An inquiry has been opened and investigations are ongoing by police. The man is expected to be taken to court this morning at around 1000hrs.
