Man Arrested After Leaving 10 Kilo Luggage Of Cannabis At Airport

A 44 year old man from Gambia was arrested locally for the importation of around 10 kilos of suspected cannabis, with a value of around €100,000.
The man was arrested on Thursday following an intensive search after he left Malta International Airport without picking up his luggage.
He arrived in Malta on the 30th of August from Lisbon, Portugal.
In the luggage, 40 packets of drugs were found, amounting to around 10 kilos of cannabis.
A magistrate was informed of the case and an inquiry was opened. This led to investigations which saw the man identified and arrested in Ħaż-Żabbar.
He is currently being held at the Floriana police lock up and is expected to be taken to court today at around 1100hrs.
