Lance Bombardier Agius Arnold of the Armed Forces of Malta has successfully completed the Basic Mountaineering Course, which is a demanding 20 day programme conducted by Esercito Italiano at the Centro Addestramento Alpino in Aosta, Italy.
The course brought together 25 participants. Agius was the only Maltese among 22 Italians and 2 Lebanese.
The training focused on developing the essential skills required to operate safely and effectively in mountainous terrain at altitudes ranging from 2,000 to 3,500 metres.
‘Participants gained practical experience in rope work, mountaineering knots, belaying techniques, casualty recovery, emergency procedures, glacier movement, and safe navigation across challenging alpine environments.’
