According to data released by Eurostat, Maltese people are the fifth biggest spenders in the EU when on tourism trips.
Maltese spend approximately €131 per night when as tourists, just below the Irish at €133. The EU average, for comparison, is €97 per night.
Luxembourg registered the highest tourist expenditure per night at €176, followed by Austria and Sweden at €170 and €140.
Comparatively, Greece registered the lowest expenditure at €47, followed by Czechia and Poland at €55 and €57 respectively.
