A poll on our Instagram story just settled one of the internet’s ongoing civil wars: texting vs voice notes. And the verdict is in, kind of brutally so.

Out of 786 votes, a solid 62% (486 people) said: “Bring back texting.”
Only 38% (300 voters) are still riding hard for “voice notes forever.”

In other words, most people would rather type in silence than listen to a 2-minute audio essay that starts with “wait, I’m just outside the shop—”

The poll highlights a familiar digital split. Texting fans are all about speed, control, and the blessed ability to skim and ignore politely. Voice note supporters, meanwhile, defend the format as quick, expressive, and “less effort”… even if it sometimes arrives as a mini podcast with no chapters.

It’s a light-hearted snapshot, but it says a lot about how we communicate now: some want crisp, instant messages; others want tone, emotion, and the freedom to ramble.

Either way, Malta Daily’s audience has spoken; and apparently, we’re one step closer to reclaiming the art of the short, well-placed text.
