Maltese Paddlers From The Surfski Shack Shine At Naxos Cup In Sicily

Maltese Surfski athletes from The Surfski Shack put on a strong performance at the Naxos Cup in Sicily, held from 15–18 May in Giardini Naxos. Eleven paddlers represented Malta in the prestigious event.

Despite rough sea conditions and a challenging headwind during the main 14km race, the team delivered impressive results across several categories.

In the Senior Men category, Matthew Schembri did very well, finishing 12th overall, 5th in Malta, and 2nd among international competitors. Samuel Borg also did a great job, coming 19th overall, 7th in Malta, and 3rd internationally. Michael Aquilina and Nicholas Attard Montalto finished 34th and 41st overall, with good national and international rankings. Giacomo Maugeri came in 44th place.

In the Masters categories, Kenny Schembri won 1st place in the Men Masters A (35-39) both in Malta and internationally, while Andreas Bohnsack took 2nd place in Men Masters G (65-69). Among the women, Mattea Micallef did well in the U23 category, finishing 37th overall, 4th in Malta, and 2nd internationally. Larissa Micallef also stood out by finishing 1st in the Women Masters A (35-39) category both nationally and internationally.
