A new national record has been set by Maltese media veteran Joe Dimech, who now holds the title for the largest collection of ties in the Maltese Islands.

The record, officially recognised by The Malta Records, was confirmed during a visit to Dimech’s private residence in Santa Venera. There, an impressive total of 255 ties were counted, securing his place in the national record books.

Dimech, a well-known figure in local television, has built a long and distinguished career in Maltese broadcasting. Over the years, he has reported on hundreds of stories, ranging from political developments and major national events to tragic incidents and deeply personal human interest stories, a genre particularly close to his heart.

Beyond journalism, he also contributed to a number of documentary projects, including a BBC series adapted into Maltese. The project stood out for bringing high-quality BBC footage to local audiences in the Maltese language, earning appreciation from viewers.

Throughout his career, Dimech has worked on several notable programmes, including Il-Każ, Ġrajjiet Maltin, and most recently Pass Pass Għal Auschwitz, which received multiple international awards.

The Malta Records team expressed their gratitude to the Dimech family for their warm welcome, while also acknowledging Joe Dimech’s significant contribution to Maltese media on behalf of the public.
