Maltese Journalists’ Institute Condemns Violence Outside PN HQ

The Institute for Maltese Journalists (IGM) has strongly condemned violent and intimidating behaviour directed at journalists outside the Nationalist Party headquarters.

The statement highlighted that a journalist and camera operator from Labour’s One News were among those targeted. The IGM described such behaviour as “repulsive in a democracy,” stressing that no journalist should be deterred from carrying out their duties without fear.

The Institute called on the Nationalist Party to ensure the highest level of protection for journalists attending its events.

“Any behaviour that discourages or impedes a journalist from performing their duties freely is unacceptable. We urge the Nationalist Party to guarantee journalists’ safety at all its activities,” the IGM added.
