Maltese Families Not Asking For Luxury, But Dignified Life, Says Alex Borg

Partit Nazzjonalista Leader Alex Borg has accused Prime Minister Robert Abela’s Government of being disconnected from the everyday struggles faced by Maltese and Gozitan families, arguing that claims about improving living standards do not reflect the reality experienced by many people.
Speaking during an interview on Analiżi on NET TV and NET FM, Borg said that while the Government points to increased ownership of cars and boats as signs of prosperity, many families are still struggling to make ends meet.
He said he regularly meets people whose wages do not last until the end of the month, young people who cannot afford their first home despite having stable employment, and elderly people who face difficult choices when paying for medicines and daily expenses.
The PN Leader said families are not seeking luxury, but simply want the ability to live with dignity, cover their bills and feel that employment provides security and hope.
He argued that the country needs leadership that listens and responds to people’s concerns rather than telling them how they should feel about their quality of life.
Borg also criticised what he described as a lack of accountability within Government, referring to the case of concrete being laid in Marsalforn and removed the following day. He questioned who authorised the works and who would cover the costs involved.
He also raised concerns about unanswered Parliamentary Questions and broadcasting balance, insisting that elected representatives have a duty to remain accountable to the public.
Borg said the PN will continue working to address challenges related to the cost of living, housing and quality of life, while strengthening the party’s structures and preparing for the future.
