Maltese Climbs Mount Kilimanjaro To Raise Funds For Ambulance For Uganda Clinic

Dr Frank Farrugia has successfully reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro with the Sigma Foundation, completing a challenging climb to support a vital cause: raising funds for an ambulance for Chiri Health Clinic in Uganda.
This Catholic clinic, run by the Sisters of the Poor, serves some of the most vulnerable communities in the region.
For patients at Chiri Health Clinic, access to emergency transport can mean the difference between life and death. An ambulance will allow urgent transfers, reach remote patients, and provide critical care when every minute counts.
Dr Farrugia’s mission reflects his long-standing commitment to humanitarian medicine. He has previously worked in underserved areas including Guatemala and Peru, performing stem-cell procedures for patients suffering chronic pain alongside missionary priests.
In Guatemala, his work also included donating essential equipment, such as a forklift, to support Fr Anton in delivering and managing vital supplies for the local community.
These efforts are rooted in Dr Farrugia’s early medical experience working with Mother Teresa, which shaped his belief that medicine must always be guided by service, compassion, and dignity.
Through St Mary’s Clinic, he continues this work, with the clinic pledging to match every euro donated, doubling the impact of public support.
Although the summit has been reached, the mission continues. Every donation brings the ambulance closer to the people who need it most.
