Rebecca Micallef has shared details of her recent artistic achievement following her attendance at the International Prize Caravaggio – Great Master of Art, held at the historic Palacio de Santoña in Madrid.

The Maltese miniature artist described the event as a memorable and inspiring experience, bringing together international artists, curators, collectors, journalists, and art enthusiasts in one of Madrid’s most distinguished 18th-century palaces. The venue itself, known for its Baroque architecture, marble staircase, and richly decorated Neo-Baroque interiors, provided a striking cultural setting for the ceremony.

Micallef was awarded the International Prize Caravaggio in recognition of her artistic work, which focuses on storytelling, historical inspiration, craftsmanship, and intricate miniature detail. She highlighted that the recognition held particular significance for her, as she was the only Maltese artist featured in the official catalogue for this edition, as well as the only dolls’ house and miniature artist included among the selected international contemporary participants. Her artwork Le Château was also featured in the publication.

During the ceremony, she addressed organisers and curators, emphasising the importance of such events in fostering international artistic collaboration and cultural exchange. She noted that the evening was not only about recognition, but also about building connections between artists from different countries and backgrounds.

The event concluded with a reception and gathering, allowing participants to celebrate and network in a relaxed atmosphere. Micallef thanked Effetto Arte and curators Francesco Saverio Russo and Salvatore Russo for the invitation and organisation of the event, describing it as a valuable moment in her artistic journey.
