Maltese 2nd Lieutenant Completes Engineer Officer Leader Course In Missouri, USA

Second Lieutenant Kristian Grech has successfully completed the Engineer Basic Officer Leader Course (EBOLC) at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri, USA, the Armed Forces of Malta announced.

The 22-week programme focused on developing officers in technical engineering, demolitions, tactical operations, military planning and leadership. The course concluded with demanding field training exercises designed to test participants both physically and mentally.

Throughout the programme, Second Lieutenant Grech completed training in areas including general engineering, offensive and defensive engineer operations, demolitions and operational planning. He also successfully completed several physical and field assessments.

Upon completion of EBOLC, Grech was awarded the Honor Graduate Certificate in recognition of his strong academic performance and overall achievements during the course, placing him among the top-performing students.

During his time in the United States, he also earned three foreign military badges after completing additional challenges outside the main programme.

These included the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge, awarded after a series of physical fitness, military proficiency and marksmanship tests, the Norwegian Foot March Badge after completing a 30km march carrying the required load within the set time, and the Norwegian Sharpshooter Badge for meeting the required military marksmanship standards.

The Armed Forces of Malta congratulated Second Lieutenant Grech on his achievements and recognised his successful completion of the international training programme.
