Malta’s village squares continue to come alive through Minn Pjazza Għal Pjazza, a cultural journey that is transforming communities across Malta and Gozo.

Following a vibrant series of past events in localities such as Għargħur, Rabat, Marsaskala, and Birgu, the project now turns its sights to the weeks ahead, promising unforgettable experiences that blend heritage, creativity, and innovation.

The upcoming programme includes:

Il-Mosta (3 October): A celebration of jazz honouring local pioneer Charles ‘City’ Gatt.

Il-Kalkara (12 October): Traditional games return to the regenerated square, accompanied by music and band participation.

Senglea (18 October): Residents become ‘living books,’ sharing personal stories across historic sites such as the Dockyard and Gardjola.

Ta’ Kerċem, Gozo (24 October): An astronomy-themed night with stargazing, light pollution awareness, and astrophotography.

San Lawrenz, Gozo (15 November): Ceramic installations will create an open-air museum at the Belvedere Colle Umberto.

Tal-Pietà (22 November): Highlighting the birth of Maltese citizens at St. Luke’s Hospital, the beginnings of broadcasting at PBS, and Malta’s Eurovision journey, with concerts, showcases, and health-related activities.

Iż-Żejtun (12 December): The finale, spread across three squares, celebrating roots through nicknames, dialect, lace-making, street theatre, and open-air art.

Each square will once again offer a unique experience, reaffirming the project as a living celebration of Maltese identity.
