The National Performing Arts Agency (NAPA) has officially launched its 2025/26 season, showcasing Malta’s 3 national performing arts companies KorMalta, Teatru Malta, and ŻfinMalta.

For the first time, the public will have the opportunity to go behind the scenes and explore the creative spaces where NAPA’s productions are developed.

The launch was officiated by the Minister for Culture, the Arts and Local Government, Owen Bonnici saying,“Established in 2023, NAPA is Malta’s central institution for the development and promotion of the performing arts. The agency manages and supports the three national companies, ensuring each maintains its unique artistic identity while fostering innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration. This new season represents a significant step in our cultural journey, strengthening creative expression and positioning Malta prominently on both the national and international stage.”

Dominic Galea, NAPA’s Chief Executive Officer, added, “NAPA’s mission is to strengthen collaboration among national entities, and this season reflects the synergy, vision, and talent of our artistic community. We look forward to opening our doors to the public and showcasing the heartbeat of Malta’s performing arts scene.”

The season will feature a variety of music, theatre, and contemporary dance performances, with 25 productions scheduled in Malta and across Europe. As Teatru Malta prepares to celebrate its 10th anniversary, the company will host events on both a national and international scale, including a showcase featuring three productions from European countries. Additionally, Teatru Malta will launch an international project at the start of next year, providing a platform for Malta’s cultural sector.

This season also marks a milestone for professional development in the arts, as it will be the first in which each national company employs full-time professional artists.

On Saturday, 27 September 2025, NAPA’s building at MCAST in Paola will host a public programme including free interactive workshops, performances by the three national companies, and discussions with artists and creatives. Admission is free, and the event is open to everyone.
