Malta With Second Lowest Road Fatality Rate In European Union

According to data shared by Eurostat, Malta registered the second lowest road fatality rate in the European Union in 2024.
Malta’s rate was 21 per million inhabitants, with the island having a population of around 500,000.
Sweden topped the list for the lowest rate of road fatalities at 20 fatalities per million inhabitants, with Denmark following Malta.
The highest rates were recorded in Romania at 78, followed by Bulgaria and Greece at 74 and 64.
The EU average in 2024 was around 44 per one million inhabitants.
