Malta With 2nd Largest Annual Increase In Commercial Flights At 12% In EU

According to Eurostat, Malta experienced the second largest annual increase in commercial flights in the EU at a 12.4% when compared to the previous year.
The EU experienced a 2.3% increase, or 708,980 flights, in August of 2026, with Malta far surpassing the average at 12.4%.
Slovakia jumped to the highest increase at 37.0%, with Estonia following behind Malta at 8.3%.
Meanwhile, Austria experienced the largest decrease at -4.7%, followed by Cyprus and Germany at -3% and -2.4% respectively.
