In 2024, Malta experienced a significant 13% increase in the number of nights spent at tourist accommodation establishments, contributing to the overall growth in EU tourism. The total number of nights in Malta surpassed the previous year, with the rise driven largely by international visitors.

The EU as a whole saw a 2% increase in overnight stays, reaching 2.99 billion nights. While international guests boosted the numbers, with a rise of 58.7 million nights, domestic tourism showed a slight decline. Despite this, Malta’s performance stands out, highlighting its continued appeal to global travellers.

Among the top performers in the EU, Luxembourg recorded the largest rise at 22%, followed by Malta. Hotels and similar accommodations in Malta played a significant role in this growth, as the island remains a popular destination for international tourists.

The growth in Malta is a positive indicator of its tourism sector’s resilience and recovery, following the challenges of previous years.
