Malta Weighing Joining Trump’s ‘Board Of Peace’ For Gaza, Says PM

Prime Minister Robert Abela told parliament on Monday that Malta has received an informal invitation to join a US-led ‘Board of Peace’ for Gaza.
Abela told parliament that Malta is ‘actively considering membership’, even if this goes against a collective European Union position.
The only two EU member states who joined so far were Hungary and Bulgaria. Trump would be given permanent citizenship, with permanent seats being acquired through a $1 billion fee.
‘If the final evaluation is that it is in the best interest of Malta, we will join… even if the EU takes a position against joining’, said Abela.
The news was met with sharp criticism by third parties Partit Momentum and ADPD. Partit Momentum called this Robert Abela’s ‘devil’s pact’ with Donald Trump.
‘Is the Prime Minister serious? Is he willing to sit on this sham Board together with some of the worst autocrats in the world? With Ukraine aggressor Vladimir Putin? With Benjamin Netanyahu, wanted by the International Criminal Court?’
‘Has Robert Abela read the Board of Peace Charter? In the board of peace no-one has any power, except the chair, Donald Trump. Whoever joins ridicules their country.’
ADPD also issued a statement, calling the consideration ‘shameful and scandalous.’
‘Abela’s proposal raises serious questions about Malta’s position in international diplomacy and our country’s role in the global crises currently unfolding. It is simply shameful and disgusting that Abela is proposing for Malta to join the so called Board of Peace, with Trump having appointed himself as “President for life.’
This comes ahead of a vigil led by Repubblika in response to the ‘killings and other cruelties perpetrated by state action in the United States’, following the killing of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Jeffrey Pretti.
